Guar Gum Powder

Natural galactomannan thickener from India's guar belt

Guar gum is the ground endosperm of the guar seed (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba), made up mainly of galactomannan with a mannose-to-galactose ratio of about 2:1. It hydrates in cold water and builds high viscosity at very low dosage. We supply food, textile, industrial, oilfield and pharma grades, milled to the mesh and viscosity your process needs, with a certificate of analysis for every lot.

From Seed to Powder

How guar gum is made.

Guar gum is the milled endosperm of the guar seed. The husk and germ are removed, and the endosperm splits are hydrated, flaked, ground and sieved to the mesh size each application needs.

  1. Guar plant with pod clusters ready for harvest
    01

    Guar crop

Guar is a drought-hardy legume grown in the monsoon season, mostly across Rajasthan.

  2. Fresh guar pods (cluster beans)
    02

    Guar pods & seed

Harvested pods are dried and threshed. The seed is dehusked and de-germed to separate the endosperm splits.

  3. Off-white guar gum powder

Industry Applications

One natural hydrocolloid, tailored by grade.

  • 01

    Food & Beverage

Thickener and stabiliser (E412) for ice cream, dairy desserts, sauces, dressings, bakery and gluten-free products. It controls ice crystals, prevents syneresis and improves mouthfeel at typical use levels below 1%.

  • 02

    Oil & Gas

Fast-hydrating guar builds viscosity in fresh water or brine within minutes. Cross-linked with borate, it forms the gel that carries proppant in hydraulic fracturing fluids, and it is also used in drilling muds.

  • 03

    Textile & Carpet Printing

A print-paste thickener for reactive, direct and disperse dyes on cotton, silk and carpets. It gives sharp print outlines and washes out easily after fixation.

  • 04

    Paper Manufacturing

A wet-end additive that improves fibre bonding, fold and burst strength, and helps retain fines and fillers on the paper machine.

  • 05

    Mining & Explosives

A flocculant and depressant in mineral flotation, and a gelling and water-proofing agent in slurry and emulsion explosives.

  • 06

    Pharma & Cosmetics

A binder and disintegrant in tablets, a source of soluble dietary fibre, and a thickener in lotions, creams and shampoos.
